4 Key Elements
Greater Than 12 provides college and career readiness services that focus on the 4 following areas...
1. Academic Advancement
The Academic Achievement Program provides students with the resources needed for success. This includes community service opportunities, tutoring, academic and career guidance, student-parent meetings, and case management. All students will participate in monthly study hall sessions that will increase literacy, time management skills, and other related skills.
2. Summer Enrichment
The Summer Enrichment Program offers students a choice between internship opportunities and academic advancement through dual enrollment college courses with local colleges and universities. Through partnerships with local businesses and state colleges and universities such as Prince George’s Community College and Bowie State University. These programs will serve to prevent summer learning loss.
3. College Prep
The College Prep Program assists students with registering and paying for the SAT/ACT, attending college tours, completing the FAFSA, paying for college applications, applying for in-state (MHEC) scholarships, preliminary college advising, and more! Such as further financial assistance from Greater Than 12 funds, outside contributions, and partnerships.
4. Career Readiness
The Career Readiness Program provides students with tangible life skills via year round workshops and training on topics such as resume writing, interview skills, professionalism in the workplace and other related topics. Career readiness also includes presenting students with trade and technical careers as an alternative to college. Students will receive exposure to trades and technical careers. If students demonstrate substantial interest, they will be assisted in applying for Career and Technical Enrichment (CTE) programs offered by Prince George’s County Public Schools and ultimately admission to trade programs offered by Prince George’s Community College.
